Sennheiser launched the Accentum Plus headphones not long after it had rolled out the original Accentum headphones. The latter had been lacking in a number of essential features, such as auto-pause, adoptive noise-cancellations and touch controls. These omissions have been rectified with the Accentum Plus and their performance is actually a step up from the original.
Design
As per Sennheiser, it has used the same construction, frame and aesthetics for the Accentum Plus, as it did for its predecessor. The introduction of the touch controls is undoubtedly new. You can use the right ear-cup for playback and the taps and swipes are mostly responsive. You can find them in black and white. There is also a carry case included this time around and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Features
The Accentum Plus have replaced the Hybrid ANC of the original with the Hybrid Adaptive ANC that automatically make adjustments to the strength of noise-cancellation, which depends on how noisy it is around you. The ANC performance has improved significantly. While it does require assistance from volume control for getting rid of the external sounds, but it can suppress ambient noises easily.
As far as Bluetooth support is concerned, it includes AAC, SBC, aptX and aptX Adaptive. This leads to a smoother wireless performance than before. There is also support for Bluetooth multipoint and the Sennheiser switches to whatever device you are using to play audio, unless you make adjustments in the settings.
According to Sennheiser, the headphones can deliver a battery life of 50 hours with ANC and it takes about 3.5 hours to charge fully. You can enjoy five hours of playback with a 10-minute charge. You can customize the headphones’ performance and settings via the Sound Control app. There is a five-band preset that can be used to tweak the EQ.
You can also create a specific EQ with features, such as Sound Check. You can also use Sound Zones for setting ‘zones’ via geolocation and your preferred audio settings will be applied when you leave or enter these zones. To access these features, you will have to create a Sennheiser account .
Sound Quality
When it comes to sound quality, you will find that the high frequencies are clear and the bass performance is light instead of firm. A bass head may not like the performance, but the Accentum Plus to manage to give a good level of detail as well as good clarity, regardless of frequency. While they may not be the most dynamic pair of headphones, but they can retrieve more detail when you plug them in through the wired connection.
The Verdict
The Sennheiser Accentum Plus prove to be a reliable performer in different aspects, be it call quality, battery life, ANC and wireless performance. While they do have a higher price tag than the original headphones, they have rectified the lacking features due to which they make a good bargain. As long as you are not looking for flashy headphones, they are a good choice.
