The Cherry Gentix BT does not make any compromises in comfort, despite being travel-friendly. Cherry has come up with a Bluetooth-clicker that strikes a balance between long-term usability and portability.
Design
The Cherry Gentix BT is a Bluetooth-device, but boasts a design similar to its wired counterparts. The shape is undoubtedly unique. It is narrow towards the end, but shrinks gradually to ensure it remains comfortable. It is a mouse that is both portable and practical and it works quite well with small devices. A single color is used for the top shell and you have a number of options to choose from. However, there is another color used in the middle and along the outer edge. This ensures that the Cherry Gentix BT does not appear as a generic device, especially when you consider its unique shape.
The edges also have thick rubber to make it easy to hold onto the device. There are also tiny side buttons that are easy to use and have a tactile click. It has a DPI toggle under the scroll wheel, which is great for you if you tend to jump from task to task. There is also a toggle that allows you to switch between three different Bluetooth devices.
Performance
The Cherry Gentix BT has been designed to be a productivity mouse that is easily portable and it does the job. There is minimal travel where the main buttons are concerned. The click is just right; not too loud, not too sensitive. It has a DPI sensitivity of 2000 and you can reduce it to 1,000, but not lower. Therefore, it is best used in the office and not for gaming.
But, the most important part of a mouse is tracking and the Cherry Gentix BT comes with a solid Pixart sensor that does an outstanding job. You can use it easily on several surfaces. Plus, you will have no complains about the Bluetooth connection, as it remains solid.
Battery Life
Another area where you will not have any issues with the Cherry Gentix BT is its battery life. But, there is no rechargeable battery here; you have to use two AAA cells. The good news is that they help the mous last for several weeks. Bear in mind that there is no USB port you can use for charging the mouse, so it is always best to have extra cells handy.
There are two different software suites that Cherry has offered, but there is not much you can tweak in the Gentix BT. You can mostly give some new function to the side buttons. There is no RGB lighting involved here. The only real personalization is when you make the purchase, as there are different color options for you to choose from.
The Verdict
The good thing about the Cherry Gentix BT is that the device does not try to be small to offer portability to its users. Rather, it is quite unique in shape and can be used easily on the go.
