Chinese brand Lofree has come up with an interesting lineup of mice and keyboards and the newest addition to the mix is the Lofree Touch. This mouse boasts a number of unique features, such as removable buttons and a screen. It also has a 4000 DPI sensor and dual means of wireless connectivity.
Design
The design of the Lofree Touch has a retro touch due to its two-tone beige frame and has a ‘Block’ colorway. The design is interesting and unique and looks excellent amidst the competition. It is made of good quality plastic, which makes it a solid device and it has a high-quality finish. Lofree has a squarer and blocky shape and weighs about 105.5g.
It takes time to get used to the shape, but it is still a very comfortable mouse. The rounded and large back panel makes it easy to hold and the mouse buttons are also well-proportioned. Instead of the traditional buttons, they resemble keyboard keycaps. And, the same durable PBT plastic has been used in their construction. The keycaps can also be replaced and Lofree gives you several options to change the look of the mouse.
In fact, it is possible to swap the back panel of the Lofree Touch and replace it with patterned variants for matching the keycap mouse buttons. This makes it aesthetically customizable and is a clever touch. The scroll wheel is rubberized, which makes it comfortable, and the main buttons are very responsive. The small OLED display shows data like battery life, connectivity option and DPI level. The left panel of the mouse has the side buttons and a small thumbrest. There is a USB-C port for charging on the top, while there is an on/off switch on the bottom, a small place to keep the USB-A receiver, a button for choosing the connectivity method and small glide pads.
Performance
A 4000 DPI PixArt PAW3805 sensor is used in the Lofree Touch, which means you get quick and fast performance for productivity tasks. The mouse is responsive, whether you use the 2.4GHz receiver, or Bluetooth. It might not be the best mouse for gaming, but given that it has been designed for office asks and workloads, this is not surprising.
If you do not want to use wireless connectivity, the USB-C wired connection can suffice. Bluetooth pairing is very simple and the 2.4GHz receiver also works via plug-and-play, thanks to the USB-A receiver.
Software and Battery Life
The Lofree Touch does not come with any software, which is a bit disappointing given its higher price point. Even a simple one for remapping functions and buttons would have been useful. The OLED screen does help because it provides monitoring metrics. The battery capacity of the mouse is about 650mAh and this means it can last for four weeks on one charge. According to Lofree, you can use the mouse continuously for 75 hours.
The Verdict
You will not find many mice that look like the Lofree Touch and it is a device you should get when you want something unique.
