Design
Style is a prominent aspect of the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX headset. The Arctic Camo version comes with a natural matte look, along with a plastic printed finish. Other color options that you can explore according to the platform include white, teal, pink, black and red. PlayStation fans will have limited variations available. The headset itself boasts a wide fit and you can spin the cups around easily, with the band resting around your neck.
The opening may be wide-looking, but the clamping force is solid enough to prevent sound leakage. There is a slight degree of pivot to the cups, which makes it easier to adjust them until they are in a comfortable position. They also have plush, thick fabric cushioning. There is just one onboard control that you will find under the left cup of the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX headset.
You will find two wheels for controlling the microphone input and volume of audio output. There is also a Mode button and a power button. Next, you will fin the USB-C charging port and the final touch is the flip-down microphone.
Features
The control hub does not have a headphone jack, which can be a downside. It means that the headset is purely wireless. It is their wireless receiver that makes them multiplatform. There is a simple switch on the side of the receiver for switching between PC and PlayStation compatibility modes. It has also a USB-A port, but you should note that the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX headset cannot be used with Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Switch or Lenovo Legion.
There is no Bluetooth support, so you cannot use the Nintendo Switch. When you use the PlayStation mode, you can choose through presets. These are also available in PC mode. A click of the power button gives you access to the headset’s Superhuman Hearing mode. You can enjoy a battery life of more than 48 hours, which is quite impressive.
Sound Quality
The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX headset is quite powerful in terms of sound. As soon as you put them on, you will feel the bass, something the brand is recognized for. The default EQ is well-balanced and this makes in-game sounds and tracks appealing. They are not too loud and since they are fully wireless, you cannot drive the sound higher with an external DAC. As far as the flip-down microphone is concerned, it is better than it appears. It is solid for in-game chatter and also quite clear.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a no-frills, simple wireless headset that can be trusted, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX can be a solid option at a very reasonable price.
