Master and Dynamic MW09 – Review

The Master and Dynamic MW09 are wireless in-ear headphones that have a price tag you would expect from a premium product. They have been designed to be small, light and as unobtrusive as possible.

Design

The MW09 earbuds are constructed with a combination of anodized aluminum, sapphire glass and plastic. They are the classic twist to fit shape and each earbud weighs slightly over 8g, which means they are not exactly on the small side. It is likely because Master and Dynamic has opted to use premium materials for construction. You have the option of selecting aluminum charging case, or a Kevlar charging case. The former is heavier at 62.5g, while the latter weighs 50.5g.

If you like the aluminum charging case, you can go for the silver-and-white buds that can be found in a silver case, or black buds in a black case. As far as Kevlar is concerned, you have several color options, which include gold and gold, green and black, gunmetal and black and blue and black. There are physical controls that you will find on the edges of each earbud. You can use them to select the ANC options, make adjustments to volume, wake the native voice assistant, pause or play music and skip tracks.

Features

The specifications of the MW09 are undoubtedly worth noting. They use Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless connectivity and they are also compatible with aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless codecs. You will also find a low-latency gaming mode and the earbuds are also Auracast-ready. Plus, you can also take advantage of multipoint connectivity.

Master and Dynamic has gone with 11mm beryllium dynamic drivers in the earbuds. There are also three mics to be found in each earbud that can be used for active noise-cancellation, voice control and telephony. You can also make considerable adjustments to ANC. You also have the option to choose between three Ambient positions, which are natural, voice and awareness. Essentially, they let you select the degree of intensity. There are also three ANC options, which are adaptive, all day and max.

The side of the charging case is where you will find a USB-C slot that you can use to charge the MW09. The earbuds can last for as long as 15 hours, or less, depending on the volume. The case is capable of giving you two full charges, which is also impressive. The control app is available for free for both Android and iOS.

Sound Quality

If you are looking for earbuds that can deliver dynamic and solid sound, the MW09 are more than capable of doing so. They can maintain momentum and the rhythm also feels great. You can also enjoy detailed bass sounds and there is lots of variation in texture and tone.

As for the frequency range, it is quite expressive and fine. You can also adjust the EQ settings to polish it up. For the most part, you can take advantage of informative and detailed sound. The active noise-cancellation is also just as impressive as the sound of the MW09 and you will find it quite decent.
