Mobvoi has updated its flagship Wear OS smartwatch and the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro promises the same software features, only in a more adjusted look. It has refined the design of the TicWatch Pro 5 and has gotten thinner and tougher.
Design and Build
The Enduro looks very similar to how the Pro 5 had last year. But, there are a few tweaks that make it a tad different. The case is still 50mm in size, but its thickness has come down a bit to 11.95mm from 12.2mm. It is only available in Obsidian black and has a minimalist look. There is a twisting crown button as well as a physical button above it.
The fluororubber strap measures 24mm and it is a highly durable watch, given that it matches military standards. While it does not stand out from other smartwatches, it is quite well-built and looks better on your wrist.
Screen and Audio
The Enduro comes with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display that has a resolution of 466 x 466. There is also an ultra-low power displaythat shows the time, along with other information like your heart rate and daily step count. A sapphire crystal screen has been used for protection rather than Gorilla Glass. The dual display is what makes TicWatch different from the rest. The displays help in extending battery life and give a strong performance.
Twisting the crown allows you to scroll through the widgets. The display itself is of very high quality and boasts great brightness. There is a speaker and microphone included in the watch, which means you can use the Enduro to make calls. You just need to be connected to your smartphone. The call quality is nothing outstanding, but in line with other smartwatches.
Software and Features
The Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 + Gen 1 is used to power Enduro. There is also 2GB of RAM available and storage on the watch is 32GB. This gives you enough space to store files, apps and audio. All of this powers the Wear OS 3.5 rather than the latest Wear OS 4.0 update. It is a radical update, so it is a bit disappointing that Mobvoi has not used it in its smartwatches as yet.
In terms of use, you can customize Tiles, check your phone notifications and use preloaded Google apps like Google Wallet, Maps and YouTube Music. Mobvoi has also added its own software, which include the TimeShow app. It comes with more than 7,000 watch faces.
Fitness and Tracking
The TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro comes with a number of features for tracking fitness and wellness. It does not have medical-grade sensors, but is capable of tracking rides, runs, swims and plenty of other things. The watch is also capable of monitoring stress, heart rate as well as your sleep stats. Mobvoi has incorporated apps dedicated to exercise and health. You can use the Mobvoi Health App to sync data.
The Verdict
The TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is a slight upgrade over its predecessor and a decent smartwatch for its price.
