It is a little late to enter the game, its Turtle Beach Stealth Pro certainly manages to deliver quite a performance. The high-end gaming headset market is filled to the brim and Turtle Beach has decided to enter the foray as well.
Design and Features
The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro follows the design philosophy that suits its name i.e. it is available in silver and black combination. Even though the Bluetooth headphones are a bit chunky, they are mostly unassuming with some writing on the band and a small logo on the ear-cup. You will certainly benefit from the generous padding around the years, but it is a tad lacking on the headband. The headset is also very airy and you will not feel any pain due to the cushioning.
The left side of the headset has a detachable plate for concealing the battery and functions as the microphone arm. As for the right, this is where you will find the USB-C port. There is also a surface-level button for activating Superhuman Hearing. The Bluetooth and power button are also there. The logo button can be used to enable noise cancellation and adjust the volume by turning the thin plastic face. You can use the app to change the function of the wheel and the button.
Sound and Microphone
As mentioned above, you do not get a simple volume wheel for adjusting the volume. There are no touch controls or rocker. Instead, you have to spin the thin piece of plastic on the right earpiece to adjust the volume. The headphones can get very loud. The volume wheel does not give any feedback to the adjustments you make. You will not hear any rumble, sound, click, or stage.
The sound quality is undoubtedly excellent. You can enjoy thumping and rich bass and clear vocals. Every connectivity method comes with EQ presets. This means that you can set preferences, whether you want to listen to music on your phone, attend video calls on a tablet, or engage in some console gaming. The noise cancelling is not as good as some leading brands like Sony, Sennheiser and Bose, but it is still good enough.
As far as the microphone is concerned, it offers decent call quality. It has clear vocal quality, but the voice does seem softer. You can also make adjustments to the EQ settings if you have any issues. The software library that Turtle Beach offers is a bit complicated. You can download it quickly and it launches just as fast. You will not face any issues in understanding the user interface.
Once you have set it up, you can switch between the four given tabs to adjust EQ presets given for every connectivity type. You can also remap the headset’s buttons and adjust the strength of noise cancelling. In fact, you can even change the function of the volume wheel.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a gaming headset that can do it all, the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro is an excellent choice.
