On Monday, a court filing revealed that Elon Musk had once more filed a lawsuit against co-founder of OpenAI, Sam Altman.
The Tesla boss has alleged that he had been manipulated into co-founding the artificial intelligence company.
The Allegations
According to Musk’s claim, he had been ‘courted and deceived’ into co-founding OpenAI by not just Altman, but also Greg Brockman, the current President of the company.
The billionaire claims that he had been told it was a nonprofit. The lawsuit says that Altman and the rest had betrayed Musk after he had invested millions of dollars into the firm.
Musk claims that Altman and the other accomplices joined hands with Microsoft to establish OpenAI affiliates that were for-profit and were involved in self-dealing.
The lawsuit states that the deception is nothing less than Shakespearean proportions. These claims are quite similar to the ones that Musk had made in another lawsuit.
That lawsuit was also filed against Altman and OpenAI this year in California. However, the SpaceX and Tesla boss had ultimately decided to drop that lawsuit.
In the last few years, Musk has expressed his fear of artificial intelligence and the risks it poses to humanity.

The latest lawsuit was filed in Northern California in a district court. Musk said in the lawsuit that both Brockman and Altman ‘manipulated’ him into co-founding OpenAI.
He stated that they had promised the company would take a more open and safer path than other tech giants that are focused on profits.
It was also stated in the lawsuit that Altman had told Musk that since the company’s structure was that of a nonprofit, there would be no doubt about neutrality.
He had reassured Musk that the focus was on openness and safety for benefitting humanity rather than shareholder value.
However, it had turned out to be nothing more than a long con that Altman had been running. As per the lawsuit, Microsoft also played a role in the situation.
Microsoft’s Role
The lawsuit stated that while OpenAI identifies as a lawsuit without any shareholders, there were other ways that Microsoft chose to obtain leverage.
For instance, it enticed OpenAI to use its cloud computing system and eventually become dependent on it.
As per the lawsuit, Musk had liked Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft. But, it also alleged that there was a difference in values of OpenAI and Microsoft.
Microsoft is the biggest investor in Open AI and as per reports. Its investment in the company so far stands at about $13 billion.
The lawsuit also alleged that in the next couple of years, Microsoft continued to entrench itself into OpenAI methodically. It is something it has continued today as well.
It should be noted that Microsoft’s involvement in OpenAI has also raised some concerns amongst regulatory bodies. This has prompted the software giant to take a step back.
