When it comes to wireless earbuds, Apple users can simply opt for AirPods, but it is not that easy for Android users. There is a huge variety for you to choose from, but JLab wants to make the situation simple. Therefore, it has come up with the Jlab Epic Air Lab Edition that come with hybrid dual drivers, powerful active noise cancellation, multipoint Bluetooth, wireless charging and plenty more.
Design
Wireless buds usually conform to some standard patterns and shapes, but there can be a lot of difference in cases. This is where JLab has opted to take a rather different route. You will find that the Epic Air Lab Edition bud case is slim and long. There is a large battery inside, a USB-C dongle and space for two buds. The lid slides back, but it is not far enough to make it easy to take out the buds.
There are powerful magnets that hold the wireless buds in place and this makes it a tad challenging for you to take them out. The USB-C dongle is also quite long. But, the case itself is made from metal and feels as well as looks premium and solid. The buds do not have a stick and are dot type. The size may be a bit on the large side, but they are highly comfortable. Different tips are offered with the buds, which include memory foam for better isolation. The buds themselves do not come with any flashes of color.
Features
If there is one thing JLab does rather well, it is adding features to its products. The Epic Air Lab Edition come with a host of features, which explains their price. You can connect two devices simultaneously, thanks to multi-point Bluetooth. There is also a dedicated app that you can download for both iOS and Android. You can select noise control modes, change the layout of the touch screen and choose from a number of equalizer presets.
One useful option is setting the decibel limit for your music that can come in handy to prevent ear damage. You will also find support for wireless charging available and the weather proofing allows you to use the buds in the rain.
Sound Quality
The looks and functionality do not really matter if the sound of the wireless earbuds is not up to the mark. Luckily, the Jlab Epic Air Lab Edition does not give you a lot to complain about. The active noise cancellation works quite well, but if you want complete noise isolation, over-the-ear headphones are a better option.
In terms of sound quality, you will find Spatial Audio and Dual Drivers. They improve the soundstage and you will certainly love the sound if you are a bass head. Punk, EDM, Dance and the like are music the buds will play really well, but the classical and pop may not be as good.
The Verdict
If you are looking for wireless earbuds that can offer you lots of features for a lesser price, the JLab Epic Air Lab Edition are a good choice. They have waterproofing, active noise cancellation, a long battery life and a ton of other features.
