For more than a decade, LG has been dominating the OLED TVs category. With the launch of the LG OLED65G4, the Korean electronics brand makes it clear that it has no intention of letting go of its crown. The TVs introduced last year were not as good as expectations, but the G4 marks the company’s return to form.
Design
The G4 boasts an exquisitely slim and minimalist design and LG has now given people the option of buying it with stand and without it. With the stand, you can move the screen up or down depending on whether you want to put a soundbar under it. LG has also made some tweaks to its webOS for this year. The adjustments make it more accessible, but it remains just as responsive and clean as before.
Along with the excellent interface, there is plenty of room for customization. This ensures that you can see the information you are interested in. Chatbot is kind of a new option and has been added to bring accessibility. You can use the ThinQ app to set up the TV, which has also been improved, but the setup is not as seamless as that of Samsung.
As far as apps are concerned, you will find a ton of options. These include popular ones like Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video and Disney+. Similarly, you will also find lots of gaming options available. There have been no changes to the remote. It has an ergonomic shape, which means that you will be able to hold it comfortably, not to mention its buttons are very responsive.
Features
LG has incorporated a number of features in G4 to prevent burn-in and image retention. You will find a Screensaver mode, Screen Move and also Logo Brightness. There are a number of features that have been added for the purpose of gaming. Every HDMI input offers support for HDMI VRR, QMS, ALLM and 4K/120Hz refresh rates. PC gamers can take advantage of Nvidia G-synch VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium solutions.
The G4 also supports a refresh rate of 144Hz and Dolby Vision Gaming has also been added, along with the HGIG HDR gaming standard. In terms of connectivity, you will find a headphone out, four HDMI 2.1 inputs, two RF aerials, three USB 2.0 inputs, Ethernet, satellite, a CI+ 1.4 common interface slot and a digital optical out. As far as wireless options are concerned, you can use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Picture Quality
One of the biggest issues with G3 was the green tint in its picture performance. Luckily, LG has fixed this issue with the G4. The viewing angles are great and even at extreme angles, you will not see any loss of brightness or saturation. You will notice deep blacks and greater details and the picture clarity is downright impressive.
Sound Quality
The audio performance of LG’s TVs always leaves something to be desired, but not this time around. The G4 sounds warmer and has a great deal more presence in terms of sound. The bass delivery is also worth noting and the Voice Remastering Technology delivers very impressive clarity.
The Verdict
If you are looking for the best TV that LG has to offer, you should certainly purchase the G4.
