The Polar Grit X2 Pro is the company’s version of an adventure GPS watch that comes with an AMOLED touchscreen display, a better processor and most importantly, dual-frequency GPS and offline mapping.
Design
The Polar Grit X2 Pro is available in two models. The first is the regular Polar Grit X2 Pro that weighs 79g and comes with a stainless steel case and bezel. The second model is called the Polar Grit X2 Pro Titan that comes with a titanium chassis and weighs lighter than the first at 64g. Polar has made some major changes in the aesthetic department and this watch is undoubtedly one of its best looking devices as yet.
Both of the devices come with an AMOLED touchscreen display that measures 1.39-inch and is quite responsive. The sapphire crystal glass lens is also scratch-resistant. The screen is undoubtedly an improvement over the previous one, as it is very bright and crisp. There is no lag and this is mostly because of a better processor. A flashlight has also been added, as you can use the screen as a torch.
Sports Tracking and Features
There aren’t many new features in the Polar Grit X2 Pro. You will find vertical speed tools and new VAM that can provide more accurate information. A new 3D speed readout is also available. Another useful addition is the Work-Rest-Guide. Along with these bells and whistles, you will find that the watch comes with a comprehensive suite of racing, training, recovery, sleep tracking and activity tracking.
There are more than 150 sport modes available, along with a number of tools, such as Recovery Pro, Training Load Pro, SleepWise sleep tracking, Nightly Recharge recovery insights and Sleep Plus Stages. The Grit X2 Pro also comes with non-medical ECG tests. You can keep track of all your data with the use the Polar Flow app as well as web tools.
There has also been some improvement in navigation. The watch has been equipped with offline Topo maps for Europe and North America. Breadcrumb navigation is also available. The Grit X2 Pro also comes with dual frequency GPS and it has excellent accuracy.
Battery Life
The battery life of the Grit X2 Pro has also seen marginal improvement. The staying power is impressive, even if it is not like some of its competitors. But, this is to be expected, given the beautiful AMOLED screen. You can get about 43 hours of dual frequency GPS tracking and in power saving mode, you can extend GPS life to about 140 hours. Overall, the levels of endurance are quite improved. The overnight battery burn is another area where Polar has made some advancements. In this respect, the performance is like those of Garmin watches.
The Verdict
If you want to take advantage of Polar’s fitness tracking tech and want a rugged device to offer it, the Grit X2 Pro is a smart investment. It is designed for the outdoors and has a durable build, not to mention an impressive price tag.
