Let’s have an overview
MSI is well-known for its wide range of PC components and accessories, and with its first-ever mic, the Immerse GV60 Streaming Microphone, the company hopes to maintain its dominance and move into the top microphones for streaming space. The GV60 is a USB condenser microphone designed specifically for streamers and content creators looking for a high-quality, no-fuss, plug-and-play experience.
The GV60, which costs $130/£100, competes directly with a few of the best streaming microphones on the market, including the Blue Yeti X and Razer Seiren V2 Pro. Those are some big actions to follow. However, with multiple condensers, 24bit/96kHz lossless audio, so no need for any special software, the MSI giving can easily compete
In terms of design, the Immerse GV60 Streaming Mic is similar to the Blue Yeti X microphone. This is a graceful, durable microphone that feels that way right out of the box, thanks in part to its hefty 1.1kg weight. Keep that in mind if you intend to rig up it on a boom arm, which is simple thanks to the 5/8″ threading in the base. There’s also a USB Type-C port for connecting the microphone and a 3.5mm headphone jack for genuine tracking.
The microphone itself is a standard design: a thick, black, metallic cylinder with a mesh top. The mesh conceals multiple condensers, allowing for four distinct pickup patterns. MSI includes removing pop filter to greatly alleviate plosives for those who splatter their mics, but in my experience, it wasn’t necessary. The mic captures audio at a sample rate of up to 24bit/96kHz, resulting in very rich, crisp audio.
One of the best features of the GV60 is that it does not require any drivers or special software. All of the control system are located on the mic itself, with solid dials and a large mic mute button.
An LED status light indicates whether or not the microphone is active. The dials allow you to change pickup patterns as well as adjust headset volume and microphone gain. Because of their smooth finish, the dials are reasonably stiff to turn and lack grip; a textured finish would’ve have functioned them much better.
The GV60 outperforms my Razer Seiren V2 Pro and Thronmax MDrill One in terms of sound quality. The pickup and tonality of your voice are outstanding and true to life, with a comfort that makes you sound far more professional. For the first time, didn’t even have to adjust the mic gain. In contrast to those, I did not encounter any ambient noise or distortion.
The cardioid pattern will be used for most things, but you can switch to Stereo, Omnidirectional, and Bidirectional on the fly. When going to host multiple guests at once, podcasters will appreciate the car radio or bi – directional pattern. And YouTubers will appreciate the high quality of voiceovers produced by this microphone.
