MSI Prestige 15 A12UC (2022) Review

You would think that a laptop that promises a head-turning design and massive amounts of power would burn a hole in your pocket, but the MSI Prestige 15 claims to offer you all of that in just $1,302. The inside of the laptop comprises of Intel’ latest processors, along with dedicated Nvidia graphics, while the exterior comes with diamond-cut edges. These days, it is important to have a laptop that can be used for both work and home and MSI Prestige 15 seems to fit the bill.

Design and build

You will find the aesthetic of the laptop very pleasing, as the diamond-cut edges are gently curved and clean. Prestige comes off as classy and minimal, with no extraneous additions in its design. It can be found in silver and grey, both with a shimmering quality and the screen can fold back to it can be flat against your desk.

There is an HDMI 2.0 and two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left, while the right has a microSD card slot and two full-size USB ports. There is a 720p webcam above the screen that has decent image quality. The Prestige weighs just 1.69kg, which makes it quite light.

You will have zero complaints about quality because the brightness is good enough to suit both indoors and outdoors. The colors are also very accurate, but since it has a 60Hz refresh rate, you cannot use it as a full-time gaming laptop. It can be suitable for casual play. As for the speakers, it has 2W units that offer decent quality of sound.

Specs and performance

The Prestige boasts Intel Core’s i7-1280P that has been developed specifically for lighter and narrower laptops. There are six performance cores that have a top speed of 4.8GHz. You get 8GB DDR4 memory and has a storage capacity of 512GB. It comprises of the Nvidia’s graphic chip, specifically the RTX 3050. There is also Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E, but no Ethernet port.

The Core i7 processor is easily the best thing about this MSI laptop because it delivers excellent performance. It can handle your daily tasks smoothly and is also suitable for some creative workloads. It may not be billed as a gaming laptop, but it has proven itself capable enough to handle plenty of them. The battery life of the MSI Prestige is also respectable, as it can last for about 12 hours while playing video. You can use it for the whole day without having to worry about plugging it in.
