If you are new, you will find a short video that explains the history of the game to assist you.
The story
The story is about a drug named SEED that transforms those who use it into monsters. It was believed that the drug had been eradicated, but it appears to have survived. The Raven Clan is selling the drug, so the SEED production has to be stopped and the Clan wiped out. This is where Mika, Beyond the Grave, who is the main protagonist and called Grave by his friends, newcomer Dr. Aso and the other El-Al Canhelcome in.
You will find that Grave remains mostly silent and does not have more than five lines in the game. The story gives you a reason for traveling the world, meeting new people and killing them.
The action
The primary attraction of Gungrave G.O.R.E is the action and it certainly delivers in this regard. There are a number of abilities that Grave has, which include a big coffin that he can swing around, a charged shot, a dodge, Demolition Shots, a pair of pistols, the ability of reflecting projectiles and also a jump.
It is not just about killing enemies, though, because you also want to look great while doing it. The aim is to drive up the Beat Count by hitting as many enemies as you can and reaching a high Art score. This will come from Demolition Shots, melee combo finishers and executions. But, you should know that this is a tricky task because the Beat Count will disappear if you are not shooting or hitting something. Therefore, you have got to be on the attack at all times. As long as you play things right, you can increase your Beat Count significantly and it will get you access to a lot of perks.
The Verdict
You will find Gungrave G.O.R.E to be gorgeous at every level, as it will expose you to different environments during the campaign. Every place will feel, look and play differently and each location has been imbued with a unique vibe that appeals to every player. There are no collectibles or things that have to be found; all you have to do is kill and that works great.
