Apple announced the launch of the second-generation avatar of its Homepod twenty-four months after it discontinued the original product. The new model has several features, including temperature and humidity sensors.
The second-generation HomePod avatar has a modified speaker array and the inclusion of a humidity and temperature sensor. The new model features a 4-inch-high excursion woofer like before. It has the latest tweeters with five horns, which beautifully replaces the seven-loaded tool on the previous HomePod model.
The original model of Homepod had six microphones, whereas the second-generation product has brought four far-field mics. An internal low-frequency calibration mic is also a part of the gadget, which will help correct automatic bass.
Apple Second-generation HomePodÂ
The new HomePod listens to the feedback from the mic and makes automatic room corrections, standardizing itself. It comprises the S7 SoC that will assist with computational and real-time audio and tuning. The new device supports stereo coupling with other HomePod models. You can choose any two models and ask yourself if you need to make them as a pair.
In addition to functioning as a stereo speaker, Apple’s HomePod can playback Dolby Atmos audio from the company’s television 4k. Like the previous model, the new HomePod will allow you to develop a stereo pair since you cannot pair the 1st and 2nd generation together.
Temperature and humidity sensors in Apple’s latest HomePod model report real-time data for the surroundings. You can use the details to trigger specific functions, including controlling the air conditioner or blinds when your preset temperature meets the target.
Temperature & Humidity Sensors
Apple discontinued the original HomePod almost twenty-four months ago, so users can expect new features in addition to some previous ones in the new model. Apple fans might have noticed the same temperature and humidity sensors on the HomePod mini sometimes back though these were not functioning. The tech giant seemingly decided to enable them on the said device in an upcoming update.
The Sound Recognition tool discreetly listens to the beeps from a carbon monoxide or smoke detector and notifies you on your Apple devices, such as iPad and iPhone. The HomePod mini will also get the same feature.
Design, Size, and PriceÂ
The second-generation HomePod has a generally unchanged design, though it is slightly lighter and shorter than the previous one. The device is available in two colors, gray and white. Apple ships these models with color-matched and removable power cables.
Apple has launched the 2nd-generation HomePod for a price of $299. The price is not different than the original price at the time of its discontinuation. Apple fans can find the new model in the market from 3 February 2023. Overall, the new HomePod seems close to the original model.
The revived smart speaker has a big sound and a familiar design. Listening time with Apple’s 2nd-generation HomePod speaker reveals various capabilities. The device plays by its lonesome and gets to sample the sound quality of two units combined as a stereo pair.
