The release of T20 in late 2021 saw Nokia return to the tablet world and the 10-inch budget tablet had boasted a stylish design. Now the company has come up with its successor with the Nokia T21 that is similar in looks, but has received some upgrades.
Design and build
The Nokia T20 had established a design standard and the T21 certainly manages to live up to it, as it also boasts a slim build and its aluminum body gives you a premium feel. This time around, Nokia opted for the charcoal grey color instead of blue and it works quite well.
Since it weighs just 471g and is about 7.5mm thick, the tablet can slip inside your bag easily and is easy to carry in your hand because it is not heavy at all. While the box does not include a case, there is a range of accessories that Nokia sells for keeping the T21 safe from bumps and knocks. It also has an IP52 rating, which means it is safe from light water spray and dust.
There is a USB-C charging port at the bottom of the tablet and the right-hand corner also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The top edge is where you will find the power button and the right-hand side has the volume controls. There is also a removable tray that accepts a microSD card and a SIM card, if you get an LTE model.
Screen and speakers
The T21 has a 10.36 inch screen with an aspect ratio of 5:3 and it is slightly wider than most tablets. Toughened glass has been used for protecting the 2K IPS display, which is also scratch resistant to some extent. Since it is a budget device, the tablet has a 60Hz screen and its brightness goes as high as 360 nits.
It has quite decent colors and you can choose adaptive, boosted or natural colors, depending on your preference. The quality is quite impressive for its price. You can use face unlock, or a passcode/pattern to unlock the device.
Each side of the T21 has two speakers and there is also OZO Spatial Audio software. You will found playback to be loud and punchy, which makes it good enough for music, podcasts and Netflix.
Specs and battery
There is a Unisoc T612 CPU, 4GB RAM, storage options of both 64GB and 128GB and the tablet also comes in LTE and Wi-Fi versions. The T21 does not lag like its predecessor and you can use it for taking notes, streaming, browsing the web and reading e-books.
The T21 has an 8,200mAH battery, which Nokia says can last for three days. But, this would happen if your use was very conservative. The tablet will give you anywhere between nine and ten hours.
Camera
From the 5Mp front selfie camera in its predecessor, the T21 has an upgrade to an 8Mp one. It offers better colors and it is great for video calls. It also has a rear 8Mp camera, capable of 8X zoom. The two cameras have auto-focus and allow basic editing with filters and portrait mode.
The Verdict
The T21 has seemingly improved on everything in its predecessor and the design is a premium one, considering it is a budget tablet with an excellent battery life.
