There was a time when TCL was the brand to beat, but it has now been replaced by Hisense because the company is packing its televisions with lots of offering that make it an irresistible option. The company has now created a 4K television that is loaded with gaming features, but can also offer you plenty of brightness, making it an excellent choice for any family.
The Hisense U8H is a television that manages to accomplish an array of tasks quite well and also takes the title of the brightest one you will find.
Design and build
It might not dazzle you from every angle, but the Hisense U8H, but it is certainly more than decent-looking from the front and that is all that matters. The company is not focused on slimming down bezels and this is apparent when you check out the U8H. It has a power icon to show you when the television is off and there is also a physical switch that can be used for turning the microphone on and off.
The U8H is thin enough, but it is substantially thicker than the OLED panels that are offered by Samsung, LG and Sony. All inputs are given on the left side of the TV, while the right has the power cable routes. There are four HDMI ports, two USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet, composite video and optical audio. The U8H also supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 6E. There are two metal feet available if you don’t want to mount the TV.
The Remote
Most people do not really pay attention to a remote, unless it is too large like Sony used to make, or too small like Samsung where it is difficult to figure out what a button does. In the case of Hisense, it has managed to strike a balance, as the remote is pretty comfortable and acceptable. It also has a wide stable base, so the remote can stand up as well. The U8H remote is also a voice remote, which is undoubtedly convenient.
Software and UI
For its operating system, Hisense opted for Google TV, which means the smart interface is like many other televisions you will find. The good thing about the U8H is that it remains responsive and snappy and does not slow down like most Google TVs usually do. You have a ton of picture quality options to choose from. A number of HDR formats are also supported in HDR 10, HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision. In terms of audio, you will find that the U8H supports IMAX Enhanced sound and Dolby Atmos.
Gaming performance
As it supports about 120Hz gaming at 4K, the Hisense U8H is great for getting the most out of plenty of games. It also supports auto low latency, variable refresh rate and AMD FreeSyncePremium Pro. HDR gaming is a great experience on this TV because it is capable of handling changing colors, lighting environments and brightness effortlessly. If you want an immersive gaming experience, the U8H is a reasonable choice.
The Verdict
Considering that it has a price of $1,400 for a 65-inch model, the Hisense U8H offers you excellent value due to its brightness, gaming support and image quality.
