Hogwarts Legacy Review

Fans of Harry Potter have been waiting for a truly great game for years. While some games have been launched, but most like the EA Sports Quidditch were underwhelming to say the least. But, it seems that the wait may finally be over as Hogwarts Legacy is a game that has managed to capture all the magic you were looking for.

The open world map is able to capture the real vibe associated with Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It has unforgettable and charming characters and the combat that you find in Hogwarts Legacy is also stupefying. It might not have a lot to offer in terms of technical achievement and there is a lack of enemies, but these issues do not dim the shine of the game.

The plot

It is best to not focus a lot on Legacy’s plot because you are going to find plenty of holes and you have to come to terms with the fact that the magical world does not make sense. The third-person RPG transfers you to Hogwarts where you start as a fifth year and have to do everything from taking classes to flying on a hippogriff to battling huge spiders.

The character creator you are given is absolutely fantastic because you have the option of crafting your own witch or wizard. Once you have created your character, you will become embroiled in a conflict between an evil goblin and the Wizarding World. Not only are you part of a secret society of wizards, but you also have magical abilities that help you do a lot of cool stuff.

The characters

You will spend most of your time with the classmates you befriend and they will go along with you on some quests and also help you in honing your abilities. Most characters are instantly endearing and memorable, such as the unflappable and clever Natsai from Gryffindor, or the morally pliable and cocky Sebastian from Slytherin. Thanks to these people, your stay at Hogwarts will be more enjoyable.

The most unexpected part is that spending time with the professors is also a lot of fun. Professor Ronen is the charms teacher who is full of charm himself and Professor Fig, who acts as a sidekick and mentor. Each of these characters come off as a vital part of the school and you will see them wandering the halls. It is up to you to decide who you want to spend time with.

The world that Hogwarts Legacy has put together is laden with everything that you could wish for in a Harry Potter game. You can fly around the Forbidden Forest, explore the secret passageways and stone-cobbled halls of Hogwarts, or explore the dark caves that you lit up with your Lumos spell. There is no doubt that the developers at Avalanche have done a great job where immersion is concerned. The wand-whipping combat is challenging, fast and utterly captivating because it is more than just shooting balls of light.
