Turkey Receives Millions in Aid as Crypto Donations Following Devastating Earthquake

Reports suggest that the web3 community has been raising in millions again within hours to help those in need.

Over 9 Million USD have been donated by Binance, Tether, Bitfinex, OKX, and Kucoin. The earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey on an early Monday morning.

All of the crypto-based donations were a source of aid for the earthquake victims and affectees of Syria and Turkey.

A tweet from a Twitter user said that Crypto donations to Turkey’s earthquake relief efforts now amass $2m. This was only a few hours after the wallets were set up.

The number of casualties had risen up to 9000 people and over 7000 injured were reported. The crypto community looks ready to help out the affectees in any way possible.

Avalanche Foundation

Avalanche Foundation donated $1 million in AVAX tokens. They joined in the fundraisers and donated a plentiful amount.

Their Twitter handles posted that their foundation has donated $1M in AVAX to the disaster relief efforts, organized by Haluk Levent.

They further stated that they urge everyone to provide as much help as they can. Their organization told the media that Turkey is close to the heart of their foundation and community.

They stated that the funds will help people recover faster in the wake of this tragedy. They further said in a statement that it is time to come together and show that crypto is a force for good and a sign of hope for all of us hurting.

Various tweets could be seen on Twitter suggesting sympathy for earthquake affectees. A lot of crypto experts tweeted in support of the earthquake victims and donated amounts in crypto to them.

Involvement of Binance

The CEO of Binance also released a statement regarding this whole earthquake situation. His statements directed sympathy toward the earthquake victims.

He said in a press release that the earthquakes had a devastating effect on both Turkey and Syria. All types of communities and people were affected by this, the CEO further said.

He called out his industry peers to come together and support the people in crisis in any way they can. He further said that he believes his efforts will help the earthquake victims.

Zhao tweeted that his org. would airdrop 100 USD which approximates to 1883 TRY in BNB totaling 5 Million users in the region.

How Other Crypto Firms Helped?

Other crypto firms such as Bitfinex, Keet, Synonym, and Tether also announced to donate an amount of 5 Million Turkish Lira.

This amount totals approximately 266,000 USD and all of this money is for the sole purpose of helping earthquake affectees.

As the reports suggest, it is very clear that the scale of this earthquake is very widespread and catastrophic.

Tether released a press statement saying that their heartfelt wishes and prayers are with those affected by the earthquake.

Another crypto firm named Gate.io announced that they will be donating 1 Million Turkish Lira.They revealed that all of this money will be going towards the earthquake recovery scenarios.

Justin Sun, the founder of Tron also pledged to donate $1 million in TRX from the Huobi Global crypto-currency exchange.

By doing so, he also added his name to the list of crypto firms and founders working to help earthquake victims.
