If you have played Forza Horizon games in the past, then you must be aware that the toy-themed and wild expansions usually come after more grounded ones. But, the developers switched things up in the Forza Horizon 5, as they decided to lead with their great Hot Wheels add-on in the previous year. But, this time around, they decided to take us back to the dust and desert for some rally-themed racing.
Even though it might not be very eye-catching, but it is undoubtedly fun and exciting because you are racing against the clock with a co-driver. The new map is also loaded with a ton of technical routes that you will not find in the main game.
The map
Sierra Nueva is the name that has been given to the new map and it is the highlight of Forza Horizon 5. You will find that the map has six different environments, which have actually been blended together. Therefore, it seems to be a separate part of Mexico than what you have been seeing since 2021. There are new zones and vegetation in Horizon 5 that you have not seen before.
However, the road network is where the strength of the Sierra Nueva really lies. There are a total of 32 roads and a number of them are technical and long. As a matter of fact, the best roads have lots of hairpins and tight corners, along with jumps and bumps and also longer stretches between junctions. The new dust effects that you will see in Sierra Nueva are also unique.
The game
The opening drive of the game is a strong one, as the route taking you to the festival has lots of campers. There are three threads in which the racing has been divided, each of which has opted for a different take when it comes to rallying. You are allowed to use any car you want for entering the events and the class is adjusted by the AI accordingly.
There are two ways that you can use for playing each event. This includes a standard race against a bunch of opponents or racing in a single car against the clock. While the simulation is not very demanding, it is undoubtedly absorbing and fun.
The additions
A total of 10 new vehicles have been added to Rally Adventure and the selection is certainly impressive. The curation of vehicles you will find in Rally Adventure is more related to off-roading and rallying. Some might argue that the new cars might be too heavy as compared to traditional rally cars, but the latest update also comes with new parts for the cars in the garage.
The Verdict
Those who have been fans of the game for a long time will definitely enjoy the Forza Horizon 5: Rally Adventure, which is a great addition to this racing franchise. The new iteration comes with a lot of improvements over the last year’s Hot Wheels expansion and it has turned out to be a winning combination.
