If you are looking for a mid-range and cheap phone, Motorola’s Moto G73 5G is one of the most high profile sets you will find. The company’s Moto G line has a total of 12 phones and this is the latest addition.
Design and build
No matter from which angle you look at it, it is apparent that the Moto G73 is a good-looking device. The design is quite simple, but it still manages to look like a premium device. The symmetrical rear camera module is attractive and certainly helps with the looks. The phone is light and thin, as it weighs 181g and measures 8.3mm. The curved frame and the back are covered with plastic, which means the same color scheme is maintained all over.
The G73 is available in Lucent White and Midnight Blue and it extends to the power and volume buttons that are on the right side. The left is almost completely devoid of buttons of any kind. The USB-C charging port is at the bottom as well as the 3.5mm audio jack, which is now rare in smartphones. The SIM tray offers support for a microSD and two nano cards. The fingerprint sensor is built within the power button and is reliable and fast.
Screen and speakers
Motorola has paid special attention to the G3’s display, which is a 6.5in LCD panel that comes with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a 2400 x 1080 resolution. Given that it is an affordable device, the lack of OLED is not surprising. Nonetheless, the display is still able to deliver vibrant colors and plenty of detail and the brightness is also excellent. It also has good screen responsiveness. The screen has relatively slim bezels, but there is a punch-hole selfie camera on the top. As for audio, the G73 comes with Dolby Atmos support and stereo speakers, making it one of the best-sounding phones at this price.
Specs and performance
The 6nm Dimensity 930 chip from MediaTekand 8GB of RAM help the Moto G73 deliver excellent performance, making it one of the key selling points of the phone. The phone is able to handle all basic tasks easily and only when you are running the most demanding games and apps will there be slight trouble. Otherwise, the performance is downright superb. The 256GB internal storage is also good for a cheap phone, but the good news is that it is also expandable with a microSD card. 5G support is also built in, along with Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6. The phone also comes with NFC support.
Camera
The G73 can be used to take some decent and attractive photos and its main highlight is the 50Mp, f/2.2 main lens. As long as the lighting is good, the sensor can take great pictures as it supports autofocus, but they are not as good in low-light conditions. There is also an 8Mp, f/2.2 ultrawide lens on the back. The image processing is quite good, but it is the 16Mp front-facing camera, which is the most impressive. It delivers better than expected results in regular selfies and also in portrait mode and the colors are quite good.
The Verdict
With a battery that lasts a full day even with intensive tasks, the Moto G73 5G is undoubtedly an impressive phone that has done quite well in different areas.
