Elon Musk loves to be in the news for his sayings and actions, especially after he bought Twitter for $44 billion last year. He has brought many changes to the company and the social media platform. The recent act that brought Musk into the news is his claim to have appointed a new boss to lead Twitter.
The Tesla owner took to Twitter to announce the news but did not name the platform’s new boss. He said “she” would begin performing her responsibilities within six weeks. Once she joins, Elon Musk will serve the company as the chief technology officer and executive chairman.
According to the media reports, Linda Yaccarina would be the new leader of Twitter. She is presently serving as the boss of advertising sales at NBCUniversal, a media giant. Yaccarina also confirmed she has resigned from her job to become a part of Twitter.
The decision to Step Down
The decision comes as Elon Musk could continue bearing the continuous pressure that he should name someone else to manage Twitter as the boss and concentrate on his other business activities. In 2022, Musk initiated a poll asking Twitter users if he should step down as a CEO who voted in favor of this decision.
While Musk agreed he would hand over the leadership to someone else, it was still vague when it would happen. The announcement led Tesla shares to rise significantly. It is worth mentioning that shareholders accused Elon Musk of abandoning Tesla and damaging the car’s brand after he took over Twitter.
Dam Ives, an employee of Wedbush Securities – an investment firm, says they consider this a significant step forward with Elon Musk finally leaving the place that has been around the Twitter nightmare. Balancing Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter as CEOs is an impossible thing needed a solution and an acceptable change.
Ms. Yaccarino came in the talks with Elon Musk to become the next chief executive of Twitter. The speculation surrounding the head of NBCUniversal intensified on Friday when the media giant confirmed her departure. While the rumors stayed in the air, Twitter did not comment on the media reports. At times, it becomes difficult to identify what the Twitter owner is seriously meant by what he says.
In April 2023, Mr. Musk told the digital media that he wanted to succeed him as the boss of the social media platform. He chose a dog to lead Twitter. If the Tesla owner has really hired a female chief executive, she becomes one of those women to reach the top of one of the most reputable tech companies.
While Elon Musk talked about paid Twitter Blue subscribers, it refers to advertising to make significant revenue at the company. The new chief executive will seek to enhance the company’s relationship with advertisers and address their concerns over content moderation. He took over Twitter to protect free speech, though advertisers never want their content besides misinformation or fanatical content.
