AI-powered ChatGPT will finally be available on the go in a few months. OpenAI rolled out the official launch of an iOS-compatible app that will let users access an AI-backed chatbot on their mobile phones. The company’s announcement comes months after several dubious and unofficial services packed the App Store.
According to the AI tech company, iOS users can download the new ChatGPT without paying a single penny. While it will be an ad-free app with voice input enabled, it will be available to U.S.-based users in the first phase.
Users can use the ChatGPT app to interact with an AI-powered chatbot as they do with its desktop counterpart. They can make queries related to numerous themes without conducting a web search. ChatGPT users can find inspiration, get advice, conduct research, and lots more.
The new release comprises Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, which may attract more users to try ChatGPT on their smartphones as their primary helper. Since Google serves as the default search engine in Safari for Apple’s iPhone users, the new ChatGPT app could influence the search engine.
ChatGPT – The Mobile VersionÂ
The ChatGPT app synchronizes your search history across gadgets when you use its mobile version. It means the app will have an idea of what you have previously searched for through its web inference to make it available.
Whisper, the open-source speech recognition system of OpenAI also includes an app to enable voice input. The company says ChatGPT Plus users can benefit from GPT-4 functionalities via the new app besides accessing faster response times and newly-released features. OpenAI launched the subscription offering earlier at the cost of $20 per month. It includes the recently updated features, such as accessing ChatGPT during peak hours.
While the rollout of the mobile version of ChatGPT will benefit U.S. users first, OpenAI will expand the app to other nations within the coming weeks. It also aims to announce an Android-based ChatGPT app the following year. Earlier, Semafor, an article revealed that perhaps OpenAI had worked on a mobile client, but the company refused to comment on the report.
Experiment with AI Technology
The timing of the iOS version of the ChatGPT app seems interesting as many reputable tech companies like Microsoft, Facebook, and Google are testing AI in their numerous products. Microsoft and Google have also integrated Artificial Intelligence capabilities into their search engines.
Microsoft also hit the headlines when it signed an expensive partnership deal with OpenAI. However, direct access to ChatGPT outside of a browser or search engine could influence the way you use your smartphone to search and link with the required information.
Another thing about OpenAI ChatGPT and AI-integrated search apps that may attract users is that it contains no advertisements. OpenAI says the mobile version of the ChatGPT will instantly answer users’ queries without sifting through multiple search results or ads.
Tech analysts believe OpenAI’s move could indirectly burn Bing as the company’s partner has already slipped ads into its AI chatbot. Even the App Store describes the ChatGPT app touting its ad-free nature. It is one of the prominent features alongside the ease of synchronizing your search history and access to OpenAI’s newest models.
