Amazon Fire TV 4-Series Review

These days, there is no shortage of budget TVs in the market. There are lots of options to choose from and in different sizes. The Fire TV 4-Series range from Amazon is available in three models, which are 43, 50 and 55inch in size and they come with the Fire TV interface that have Alexa built in.

Design and build

Once you get the Fire TV 4-Series out the box, you will immediately realize that it is extremely lightweight. This is partly because the TV is very thin and also because it is made up of plastic and also boasts plastic feet that are glossy black. If you are not mounting the TV on the wall, you can attach the feet with just four screws. The power cable plugs go into the left side, while the remaining ports can be found on the right. The TV does not have a very thick bezel and has the same finish as the feet.

Specs and features

While the model might be relatively basic, it is great to see that he Fire TV 4-Series boasts four HDMI inputs, one of which is HDMI 2.1 eARCand the remaining three are HDMI 2.0. You can use Bluetooth to pair the official Luna controller and it can also be used for pairing speakers, headphones, hearing aids and other devices. But, the most interesting feature is that the Fire TV interface is used by the 4-Series. It has been primarily designed for streaming content. It is immensely easy to use and you can install apps for BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Disney+, Channel 4, ITV X and a number of other popular services.

There are also two USB ports that can be used for connecting a thumb drive. The 4-Series also offers AirPlay support, allowing you to beam photos and videos from your iPad or iPhone.

Picture and sound quality

The picture quality is good and you will like the clarity, especially if this is your first 4K TV. Colors are also strong, but brightness might be a bit on the low side. You can also make adjustments to picture settings for streaming media, digital TV as well as the HDMI inputs. There are different presets that you can find for every input and you can make adjustments as per your preference.

There are dual 8W speakers in the 4-Series and they produce a pretty thin sound. If you are not pleased with the sound quality, you can use the HDMIU eARC input to connect a sound bar.
