Deep Fakes technology is known for creating realistic-looking false content. Many people have used AI-powered products for immoral purposes to influence many lives negatively. The Microsoft president, Brad Smith, says he is worried about the gloomy use of technologies like AI.
He thinks the biggest Artificial Intelligence concern is deep fake technology, which can create realistic-looking false content. Some nefarious users even go as far as use AI technology to make celebrity pornographic videos and vengeance indecent acts.
According to the Microsoft CEO’s statement, the tech industry needs to address the AI concerns around deep fakes. Microsoft will address in particular what it worries about most foreign virtual stimulus operations and the activities performed by the Chinese, Iranian, and Russian governments.
Mr. Smith also says it is imperative to protect people against altered legitimate content to defraud or deceive others by using Artificial Intelligence. Every critical form of Artificial Intelligence technology should function with a license and a condition to protect cybersecurity, national security, and physical security.
The tech industry will ultimately need new generations of export controls to ensure that nobody uses or steals these AI models in such a way that could violate the export control obligations of the country. Although Microsoft keeps vouching for the AI technology’s growth, the company realizes the risks associated with the power tech. Accordingly, it calls for laws and regulations in modern technologies, including deep fakes.
OpenAI CEO has the Same Concerns.Â
Like Brad Smith, Mr. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, raised the same concerns about artificial intelligence and demanded AI regulations. He also requested lawmakers to develop urgent rules and protocols in the AI industry. The Microsoft president says the law should make AI creators responsible for any issues arising because of their AI products. He also urges legislators to stop individuals from using AI to control water supply, electricity, and other primary infrastructure so that humans can stay in control.
On the other hand, Capitol Hill has started considering some proposals to drive attention to Artificial intelligence that is likely to put individuals’ lives at risk, like in finance and medicine. Other tech-related organizations and individuals also call for AI rules to ensure nobody can benefit from modern technology to violate or discriminate against civil rights.
Mr. Smith, during a speech in the American city of Washington, aimed at discussing the problems of how best lawmakers can regulate Artificial Intelligence technology, from wonky to ChatGPT. He called for the necessary initiatives to ensure individuals can identify between an original and an AI-generated picture or video for evil purposes.
Legislators in Washington struggle with what legislation to pass to regulate artificial intelligence, as all companies are in the race to bring versatile AI to the marketplace. Earlier this month, the OpenAI CEO met Congress and told a Senate panel that using Artificial Intelligence to interfere with election integrity leads to significant concerns. He also highlighted why the use of AI technology needs proper regulations and protocols decided by lawmakers.
Mr. Altman, whose company is behind AI-powered ChatGPT and has Microsoft’s support, also required global operation on the Artificial Intelligence technology and enticements for safety compliance. Besides urging in the speech, Mr. Smith also released a blog post last week saying holding relevant people accountable for problems caused by AI is significant in the present era.
The Microsoft president also urged AI developers to use a specific system that works like Know Your Customer to keep an eye on how others use their technology and to educate the public about what content artificial intelligence can create or has created to let them identify faked visuals.
