Like other things, Artificial intelligence has impacted the photography realm, from professional tools like generative AI in Adobe Photoshop to the upcoming feature of Magic Editor for Google Photos.
Now MyHeritage, a genealogy company, has turned to AI tech to make it simpler for you to preserve your memories by introducing a new app called Reimagine. The app helps you easily upload printed images stored in albums and improve their resolution. You can fix creases and scratches, animate faces, and restore colors in monochrome photos.
The Reimagine – The AI-Powered App
The Reimagine app combines the technology with other image-editing tools to build on it. The AI app is available on Android and iOS devices for free download. You can snap images from your old photo albums to use Reimagine. The app will automatically crop separate photos after identifying them. Then it will save these images as standalone pictures. Once you scan the photos, the Reimagine app allows you to include more details, such as names, days, and locations, to make them easy to find.
Moreover, the AI app lets you scan individual images from a collection and upload pictures from your camera. According to MyHeritage, the Reimagine app lacks groundbreaking scanning aspects. In 2016, Google introduced PhotoScan, an old photo scanner, to offer the same technology to upload photos from old albums. It also allowed removing glare on the picture. Meanwhile, MyHeritage hired a competent AI team to develop a multi-page scanner exclusively for its app.
With Reimagine, the company aims to stand out among photo-scanning competitors through its exclusive AI-powered features. These include restoration of faded colors, scratch repairing, resolution enhancement, narration inclusion, and turning old images into animations via Deep Nostalgia. These tools leverage the technology created by Dana Kelley with the necessary license from DeOldify. It partnered with Tel Aviv to make AI-powered patented video modernization technology, Deep Nostalgia, to bring liveliness to the images.
The MyHeritage app touched the heart of many users who did not get to know family members who died or lost them lately. It went viral on TikTok after it debuted in 2021. While bringing the demised back to life in the picture may seem unsettling, the technology emerged as an impressive feat. Later, it moved to Deep Nostalgia to let users include narration in their animated images. It made people in the picture voice their stories.
Gilad Japhet, MyHeritage’s founder, and CEO, says the company launched its first AI-powered photo tools three years ago and has revolutionized its way of engaging individuals with their family photos. Images tend to be a significant doorway to family history, and MyHeritage offers an exciting suite of AI-powered photo tools.
Accordingly, the company developed a dedicated app called Reimagine for family photos to encourage new audiences to grasp their family memories and put a new life in them. You can best enjoy your family memories when you share them with people you love. Reimagine lets you relive your precious moments with your beloved ones.
