Moving Out first came out in 2020 and it proves to be an entertaining co-op game, which was able to transform the task of shifting furniture into a type of slapstick. The sequel has left the chaotic and hilarious couch-carrying basics remain unchanged for the most part, but it has refreshed the formula significantly. The level design comes with a more outlandish approach and there is more depth due to added interactivity with the environment. Unfortunately, solo players are unlikely to have a lot of fun with it, but with a buddy, you can enjoy tightly packed hilarity and tension once more.
Multiverses
Even though super hero movies have done multiverses to death by now, they are used rather well in Moving Out 2, as you will find yourself in a number of absurd scenarios. It does not take long for things to turn fantastical in the small town of Packmore where several interdimensional portals open up.
This means that your team of lifters have to take their delivery truck through the fabric of time and space for picking up and packing cargo. There is no shortage of personality where Moving Out 2 is concerned and there is an abundance of puns in the light story that add to your enjoyment.
Gameplay
When it comes to the main gameplay of Moving Out 2, SMG Studios opted to not make a lot of changes, given that there was nothing wrong with it in the first place where the original game is concerned. You have to ferry objects to the designated drop-off point with your partner and this requires verbal coordination and dealing with the obstacles that stand in your way.
A number of bizarre bobbleheadsare the movers and their numbers have been expanded in the sequel. They remain just as clumsy and the simple move set has been unchanged. Due to this familiarity, Moving Out 2 initially feels less like a sequel and more like a stand-alone expansion.
But, it does not take long for a number of environmental enhancements to highlight the difference between the prequel and the sequel.
New elements
They have added several silly yet satisfying ways of completing every moving job. You do have to spend some maneuvering L-shaped and stubborn couches through alleyways that are a tad too narrow and take microwaves straight out the walls. However, every scenario comes with enough diversions that Moving Out 2 does not seem like a retread.
The importance of careful planning has been highlighted in the environmental elements, such as doors that can only open one way. You have to be sharp or you will end up getting tricked. This time around, there is more coordination required, which means you will have to shout incoherent directions at your loved ones and friend and then not get frustrated when they do not understand.
The Verdict
You will find Moving Out 2 to be a calamitous and colorful sequel that is equally charming and challenging and with the option of online multiplayer, you can add to the fun.
