The Cherry MX switches are used in many keyboards that people use today and the brand has also developed a variety of tech accessories, which include headphones, microphones, mice and more. The KW 9200 Mini, on the other hand, is actually a hybrid scissor-switch keyboard that offers three-way connectivity and has a small footprint.
Design
Measuring 295.49 x 129.03 x 15.86 mm, the external keyboard from Cherry lives up to its title of ‘mini’. Thanks to the small size, you will not have a problem in carrying it around in your handbag, or backpack. Not only is the size discreet, so is the style. The keyboard has a red background, but is actually black and the same is the case with the storage pouch and USB-Aoutputs. While the keyboard makes an impact, it remains subtle.
Even though the color scheme might be more in line with what gamers want, the keyboard is not backlit. The good thing about the black keys is that they are able to hide fingerprints. There are two feet on the back for raising up the keyboard and it also has three glides that prevent it from slipping off. You will also find a dongle that offes a 2.4 GHz radio connection, an LED that highlights the battery status, a USB port for the cable and lastly, a power button.
To keep the keyboard small, Cherry has done away with the numeric keypad. As for the FN key, they have moved it to the bottom right-hand corner. There is also a soft, recycled-plastic case given with the keyboard for storing it.
Use
In terms of usage, you will find the KW 9200 Mini effective and simple. As a matter of fact, it is an office keyboard that does not offer additional functions via software. The only specific features that the keyboard offers are its compatibilities/connections and its smaller size.
But, the good thing about the keyboard is that you can use it with both Chromebook and Windows computers and it will even work with an Android device. Most importantly, it is possible to pair it with three devices at the same time. This is a huge benefit if you tend to switch devices frequently.
The keyboard is also not very noisy, so you can type quietly. This is because the KW 9200 Mini is not a mechanical keyboard, but is actually a chiclet i.e. rubber one. Plus, ABS plastic has been used for the keycaps, which is more durable and softer. As for the key spacing, it is enough for you to type in the same way as on a conventional keyboard.
Battery life and charging
Another plus point of the KW 9200 Mini is that it has a long battery life, given that there is no backlighting. You can use the keyboard for several weeks without having to recharge. But, even if it goes out of power, you can use the USB-C/A cable for charging it.
The Verdict
If you are looking for an excellent mini-sized office keyboard that you can carry around easily, the KW 9200 Mini is the best choice.
