There was a time when Samsung’s devices were the only ones competing with Apple in the tablet space. But, there is a great deal of competition now. Nonetheless, the Tab S7 FE is an affordable one that Samsung has introduced. The company launched it back in 2021, but it was the latest model in the company’s mid-range model until late this year when the Tab S9 FE was introduced.
Design and Build
When it comes to design, Samsung’s tablets are undoubtedly impressive and the same is the case in this situation. The glass front and aluminum back that make up the Tab S7 FE make it easy to grip and avoid fingerprint smudges. The minimalist aesthetic of the back is quite appealing and it gives the illusion of a premium device rather than an affordable one.
The box comes with an S Pen stylus and it is a passive version, which means you do not need to charge it for basic use. You can attach it to the side of the device, or under the back cameras. As for colors, you will find the Tab S7 FE available in black, silver, and pink and green. The front has a 12.4-inch screen with a slim bezel, but the overall tablet is a heavy one at 608g.
A 5Mp front-facing camera is also added for face unlock. The tablet comes with stereo speakers and they deliver a more immersive experience when it comes to audio. There is also a USB-C port that can be found for charging purposes, but no 3.5mm headphone jack.
Display
The S7 FE has a 12.4-inch LCD panel that boasts a 1600 x 2560 resolution. It comes with a 60Hz refresh rate, which is a tad disappointing because it does not feel as responsive and fluid as the flagship tablets. Likewise, the LCD is a bit disappointing when you have previously used OLED. Nonetheless, the display still does not feel very weak, as the level of details is impressive and the colors are downright vivid.
Specs and Performance
When it comes to the Tab S7 FE, the 5G model does not just offer cellular connectivity, but also comes with an entirely different chipset. They use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, while the Snapdragon 778G is used by Wi-Fi only devices. It means that the two have different integrated GPUs, with Adreno 619 and Adreno 642L being used for 5G and Wi-Fi only devices, respectively.
As far as performance is concerned, in general the device gives a solid performance. The experience is responsive and smooth when you stream videos, scroll social media, or browse the web. Multitasking is also seamless and there are only occasional stutters. But, mobile gaming does experience delays, so it is not exactly designed for gaming. As for storage, you can find 64GB, 128GB and 256GB and also expand via microSD card if you want.
The Verdict
The cameras in the Tab S7 FE are mediocre, which is not surprising for a tablet, but battery life is exceptional. The tablet is worth considering, given that it has a reasonable price.
