Anyone who has taken an interest in the competitive shooter community would have heard of Scuf Gaming. The high-end gamepads of the company have been the go-to choice amongst console gamers for years. It has finally ventured into the world of PC gaming with Envision Pro. Plus, since it is now owned by Corsair, the utility of Slipstream Wireless and iCUE is added to it, thereby making it the most programmable gamepad that exists.
Design and features
At first glance, the Envision Pro looks like a DualSense controller because it has the same overall look with its face buttons, symmetrical thumb sticks, centered home key and what seems like a touch panel in the center, but it is just for decorative purpose. But, a closer look shows that this gamepad has a lot more going for it.
The Envision Pro has been developed primarily for PCs, which means it comes with more inputs and each can be programmed and customized. There are five programmable G-keys below the joysticks and they can be used for launching full programs to macros. There is a subtle RGB strip above the headset jack and battery indicator of the controller.
The SAX buttons mounted on the side have returned and they are bigger, which means you are less likely to press them accidentally. The back of the controller has four paddles and brand-new microswitches have been used for the bumpers, face buttons and triggers. They feel and sound like a mouse instead of a controller button and this makes it more fun to use.
Software
When you use the Envision Pro with software, you will be able to see the real magic because iCUE opens up new possibilities. There are numerous configuration options available. All aspects of a premium controller can be customized, such as the response curves of the joystick and triggers and the sensitivity. Almost every button can be remapped, which means you have a total of 23 keys that you can program.
The position of controller inputs can be changed, or you can also assign macros to various buttons if you want to get creative. It is possible to change the lighting effects and assign media controls and also store the changes. Through the software, the Envision Pro actually manages to blur the lines between a gaming mouse and keyboard and a gaming controller.
Performance
The Envision Pro manages to deliver exceptional performance and has really nice programmability and mechanical buttons. It works great for first-person shooters as opposed to other gamepads. It has smooth and responsive sticks. The tactile face buttons are also wonderful and they feel a lot better than other controllers. The SAX buttons do give trouble, but the rear paddles are significantly better.
Moreover, the iCUE programmability and the row of G-keys prove to be game-changing in the case of a PC controller.
The Verdict
Considering that the Envision Pro delivers a good experience, it is easily one of the best controllers to have been produced by Scuf and an excellent debut in the world of PC controllers.
