A super-ultrawide monitor boasts a 32:9 aspect ratio and it offers immersion that nothing can compete with. But, the problem with big monitors is that they come with a hefty price tag. Fortunately, you can find a more affordable option in the LG Ultragear 45GR75DC-B, as this 45-inch panel is below the $1,000 mark. While some compromises have been made for the low price, it remains an excellent device.
Design
Rather than the 49-inch format, the LG Ultragear 45GR75DC-B boasts a 45-inch screen. Even though it is smaller, you are unlikely to feel the difference unless you are doing a side-by-side comparison. The monitor has a professional and simple design, as LG as opted for matte black in this model. It comes with a wide and heavy stand for minimizing wobbling and keeping it firm. You can also make adjustments for tilt and height. At just 13.7 pounds, it is a light display panel, considering it is a super-ultrawide.
Connectivity and features
The 45GR75DC-B boasts a USB-C port supporting 90 watts of USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alternate Mode. It also comes with a DisplayPort input 1.4 and HDMI 2.1. The refresh rate of all video inputs is 200Hz and the resolution is 5,120 x 1,440. The connectivity is rounded off with a 3.5mm audio-out jack and a few USB downstream ports.
The on-screen menu of the monitor can be controlled with a joystick given on the lower lip of the monitor. It is easy to use and responsive because of the well-labeled and simple menu. It also offers good image quality customization and there are numerous gamma modes, six-axis color adjustment and multiple color temperature modes.
A black stabilizer is also included, along with a framerate counter and an on-screen cross hair. While they are not remarkable in itself, it should be noted that the LG Ultragear 45GR75DC-B does not leave anything out.
Gaming image and quality
While it is not the least expensive gaming monitor out there, the LG Ultragear 45GR75DC-B comes close and it has managed this by eliminating fancy features, such as a mini-LED backlight. But, the device still manages to look attractive. There is also a Vertical Alignment (VA) panel and it offers immersive and deep contrast. The contrast ratio of this monitor is 3650:1. The color accuracy of the monitor is downright excellent, as is the sharpness.
Other details
In terms of HDR, it is Vesa DisplayHDR 600 certified, but this is where the monitor is lacking. However, the 200Hz refresh rate enables the monitor to deliver a smooth motion performance. Most alternatives do not offer such a high refresh rate, which makes it a bonus. The motion clarity remains superior and crisp when compared to other super-ultrawide monitors. You can see objects and fine details and only the most intense gamers might feel that motion clarity is a bit lacking. Not only does the LG Ultragear 45GR75DC-B deliver good quality images in terms of games, but it is also great for day-to-day content creation and productivity.
The Verdict
The LG Ultragear 45GR75DC-B proves to be an inexpensive and impressive gaming monitor and it certainly beats similar devices that have a much higher price tag.
