Is it a dongle, or a USB-C docking station? The Ugreen Revodok Pro 13-in-1 Triple Display Docking Station leans more towards the former, but it shows promise. Despite the shrinking size, it offers more powerful capabilities. There are three display ports included, all of which boast 4K capabilities, one at 30Hz and two at 60Hz. But, the USB-C cord has been built into the dock, which means you will have to get your own USB-C power cord. This dock offers you all the capabilities of a more expensive and powerful Thunderbolt dock, but at a cheaper price.
Design and build
While the price of the Revodok Pro 13-in-1 is certainly intriguing, so is its size. The dock measures 6.5 inches by 2.75 inches and it is about 0.75 inches thick. It weighs about 0.7 pounds, which makes it relatively light. There is also a microSD/SD 3.0 slot on one side and there is also a 3.5mm audio jack. There is a 10Gbps USB-C port and three USB-A ports, one 5Gbps and two 10Gbps.
The other size of the Ugreen Revodok Pro 13-in-1 Triple Display Docking Station comes with the input port for your USB-C charger, which can accept 100W. There is also a DisplayPort and two unspecified HDMI ports and another 5Gbps USB-A port. Bear in mind that none of these are rated to power a smartphone, a concession that these unpowered docks make.
The docked and short cord is the other concession, which is about 9.5 inches long. If the USB-C connection wears out, or the dock is not long enough, you may have to replace the entire dock.
Performance
You will have absolutely no complaints in terms of performance, as it is downright excellent, with the exception of charging. The dock supplies 2.5W from the USB-A ports and 1.45W from the USB-C ports, which is enough to power most peripheral devices. But, smartphones will not be able to charge properly. Even though the dock is made of plastic, you will not experience any thermal problems either.
Even when connecting to the Ethernet, there are no anomalies, whatsoever. It does not have any audio glitches for that matter and no glitches when you connect or disconnect to external displays. This means that it offers you excellent stability. In storage tests, the Revodok Pro 13-in-1 Triple Display Docking Station managed to outperform a Thunderbolt dock. Even when storage is happening in the background, there is no change in performance. Moreover, the streaming performance across Ethernet is also quite impressive.
The Verdict
While there are some caveats, such as the short cord, lack of power supply and lack of widespread availability, the Ugreen Revodok Pro 13-in-1 Triple Display Docking Station boasts an optimized build. Most importantly, its price is very reasonable, which makes it a good bet.
