In recent years, the Samsung Galaxy A series by Samsung has turned out to be a hit and miss. When it comes to the Galaxy A15, the phone is everything you could possibly need when you are after a basic smartphone. The cameras might be average, but in every other department, the phone does a solid job.
Design and build
At this point, Samsung’s design aesthetic has become well-established and the new A15 is almost identical to the A25 when it comes to dimensions and material. It weighs about 200g and measures 160.1 x 76.8 x 8.4mm. As far as its construction is concerned, it is a combination of a plastic back and chassis, while the display is a glass panel.
There is a raised area on the right flank where you will find the volume and power controls and the latter also houses a fingerprint sensor. This proves to be very handy and is also quick. The rear panel of the device is actually a reflective surface and the phone proves to be very slippery. The Galaxy A15’s box does not include a charger, but there is a USB-C cable. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack given.
You can find the Galaxy A15 in three colors, which include Blue Black, Yellow and Blue.
Screen and speakers
The Galaxy A15 shows why Samsung has an excellent reputation when it comes to displays. It boasts an AMOLED panel measuring 6.5-inches and the colors and brightness are quite solid. The screen has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 i.e. Full HD, which keeps things crisp and the 90Hz refresh rate ensures the phone functions smoothly. Considering the reasonable price tag of the device, the display is definitely nice and the highlight.
In terms of audio, you will find a single speaker on the bottom edge of the handset, which manages to hit some impressive volume levels. If you are listening to audiobooks and podcasts, you will not have any complaints, but music may not sound as good.
Specs and performance
Since it is a budget device, the Galaxy A15 does not come with a Snapdragon chip. However, this does not mean that the MediaTek Helio G99 processor is lacking. It proves to be competent when it comes to handling daily tasks. There might be some stuttering when you open up a lot of graphical images, but otherwise, the phone functions quite well.
The apps are able to open fairly quickly and they are also interactive during use. You can also play simple games without complaint, but heavier 3D games may not be right. It is likely due to the 4GB of RAM, which is on the low side nowadays. As for storage, it is about 128GB, but there is microSD card support that gives you the option of expanding it.
As for connectivity and network, the Galaxy A15 is a 4G device, but a 5G version is also available if you want a faster connection. The phone offers support for Wi-Fi 5, NFC and GPS, Bluetooth 5.3 and Dual SIMs.
The Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy A15 is proof that it is possible to get a lot for your money because it has an excellent display, solid storage and a robust battery life.
