In 2021, Garmin Lily is a smartwatch especially for women, which came as a surprise. It had a more compact and stylish build as compared to unisex options. Three years later, Garmin has now launched the Lily 2. It has the core features and elegance of its predecessor, but modest upgrades.
Design and Build
The Garmin Lily 2 has a small and elegant design and it is incredibly discreet and lightweight. It boasts an anodized aluminum casing, which gives it a well-built and premium touch. Plastic has been used on the underside, where the heart rate monitor is. But, it still feels comfortable when you wear it. You can wear the watch pretty much everywhere without feeling it.
Gorilla Glass 2 lens has been used instead of plain glass, which offers more visual appeal. As far as the display is concerned, it offers a 240 x 201 pixel resolution and a 16-level grayscale. Since the watch is focused on minimalism, the lack of color does not come off as a surprise. Of course, it means it is not the same as an OLED. While the touchscreen is smooth, it is not as fluid as other smartwatches.
Fitness and Tracking
Wellbeing is a bigger priority for the Garmin Lily 2, rather than hardcore training. You can get accurate metrics from the heart rate sensor and this also applies to HIIT workouts. The watch is able to keep up with the rapidly changing heart rate easily. Automatic exercise detection is best when you are walking and there are lots of features, along with basic step counting.
These include blood oxygen saturation, fitness age and respiration monitoring. Another highlight is adaptation of hydration goals in accordance with the workouts. However, it is the Body Battery feature that shines the brightest. It reflects the energy levels of the body based on your sleep, exertion and stress levels. The Lily 2 is also very effective when it comes to stress tracking. The app presents you the data in an easy-to-read manner.
But, there is no built-in GPS, which is a big downside and while it does have activities like stair climbing and dance included, there are some that are missing.
Software and Features
The Lily 2 has two variants; the standard one and a Classic version. The latter has posher straps and comes with Garmin Pay, but support is scarce for this feature. In addition, the watch offers weather forecasts, a ‘Find My Phone’ function and a Morning Report. The watch can also show smartphone notifications, but they cannot be customized. If you pair it with an Android device, you can use it to reject calls and respond to texts, but it is not available on iPhone.
The Verdict
There is no doubt that the Garmin Lily 2 looks great when you wear it, particularly with smarter clothing. It is also good for activity tracking and the Body Battery feature is also very useful. Some areas can use improvement, but it is a discreet and comfortable watch for casual exercisers.
