As summer is around the corner and the new road trip season is about to commence, Google Map decided to ease the vacation planning easier thanks to improved route details. The app will include a new feature that will show the calculated toll prices for your desired route before you start navigating to your destination. These updates should make your next road trip even easier and better.
According to Google, the company looks at factors like the tool pass prices or other payment methods. It will also show the day of the trip and how much the tool pass will cost when you cross it. Google reveals in a blog post that Google Maps will also show if your desired route has no toll fee. The new feature will be available on iOS and Android devices in April. It will cover about 2,000 toll roads in the United States, Indonesia, Japan, and India. The updated feature will be available on Android and iOS in more countries.Â
Google Maps will have more details for easy navigation. Users will soon observe traffic lights and signs like a stop along their route. The navigation app will also provide enhanced information, such as a nearby building sketch and areas of interest. Some selected cities will have more additional info like how wide the road is and its shape. The feature of road shape and width will also work for islands and medians. Google will begin rolling out these enhanced maps in upcoming weeks on CarPlay software by Apple, Android Auto, Android, and iOS.
Apple devices continue to receive some targeted updates for Google Maps users. These include a new iOS app widget, which will be accessible in the coming weeks. The new widget feature will allow users to access trips spotted in the GO tab. The Apple Watch app will enable Google Maps users to get directions to any navigation maps places like office and home with a tap on the shortcut on the watch. This change will eliminate the hassle of getting your desired route directions by starting those trips from the iOS app. Google emphasizes the releasing time for such features is significant as to the new commuting season in many countries.
Google Maps users remember how the app could tell them which routes were with or without tolls, and they did not get much information beyond that. But, the update coming this month will help you cover more than 2,000 roads in India, Indonesia, Japan, India, and the United States. You will also be able to see the estimated toll cost supplied by local authorities.Â
The new update will provide you with more data when you want to figure out the best possible and cheapest route to reach your destination. Google Maps will even factor in things like numerous payment methods, such as paying with credit or cash, day and week of the month, and even the time you may hit a toll. Google Maps will still also surface toll-free routes and give you the option to hide roads with tolls so you can save more money.
Google Maps will also have enhanced details to make driving through new territory trouble-free by showing you traffic lights, stop signs, and additional information about nearby buildings and points of interest.Â
